Notes
- From June Lee Jan 2005
Lance moved away from Bancroft around 1924, first to drive grain wagons in the west. In 1926 he worked both in Vancouver and Stockton, California. From there he went to work on the Hoover Dam and worked on it from start to finish.
Lance and Gladys came back to Ontario in 1955. His brother Dave had not seen him for thirty one years as Lance had left and went West about 1924 when Dave was only 11 years old. Lance paid a surprise visit and tried to pass himself off as a lumber buyer but the family resemblance was too strong and he was recognized even though no pictures had ever been seen by Dave's family. His mother was overjoyed to have him back.
Lance and Gladys lived at Great Bear Lake, California and owned a motel that he and two sons had built. Then they lived in Lynwood, California for 12 years as of 1945.
Lance had a pacemaker installed when he was 80 years old when he was very busy building another home for Margaret and himself.
He died from stomach cancer in California. He belonged to the Shriners. His funeral was officiated by the Arroyo Lodge # 274 F. & A. M.
