In 1901 census Roland and sisters Addie and Zada and their mother Margaret Robinson are living with his grandmother Sarah Robinson in Mounteagle Township, Hastings County.
As a young man Roly was known as being a full of fun person. He enlisted in WW1 and on Nov. 3, 1917 Pt. Roland Robinson ,of the 21st Battalion , Canadian Infantry ( Eastern Ontario Reiment) # 636767 became a casualty of war. His memorial site is in Belgium at Ypres (Menin Gate). His name is on page 318 of the First World War Book Of Remembrance at Ottawa Parliament Buildings and is open for viewing on July 12th of each year
