The Renfrew Mercury of October 7, 1921 reported:
"The death occurred in Cobden on October 1st of Robert Douglas Lee, youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. James R. Lee, at the age of thirteen years and seven months, after an illness of a few days duration. Deceased, who since the age of five years, has been somewhat of an invalid following an attack of meningitis, was of a particularly beautiful and carefree nature, and though deprived of the usual enjoyments of the normal healthy boy, was never fretful, and found happiness and pleasure in all things. A cold developed into pneumonia, proved too much for the weakened body to combat, and after less than a week's illness the young life closed with the same beautiful spirit that marked all his sojourn here. The funeral took place from the home of his parents on Monday, October 3rd at half-past one o'clock in the afternoon. A very impressive service was held at the home by Rev. A. Donaldson, after which interment was made in the Cobden Presbyterian cemetery. The bearers were four small boys, and the white casket was covered with beautiful flowers, among them being a ladder from the members of Enterprise L.O.B.A. To the accompaniment of the beautiful gravesite service the young form was laid to rest. ' 'Til the day break, and the shadows flow away'. "
